Yes, midterms.

Rape them. Stick your penis through the paper. Or computer screen. Whatever you gotta do. Just show those whores what happens when they talk back.

THIS IS GOOD ADVICE FROM A MAN WHO DROPPED OUT OF COLLEGE IN HIS SOPHOMORE YEAR.

Jan. 12, 2008 | 8:02 PM Jake says:

They start on Tuesday for me. If I don't do something quickly, I'm going to fail geometry.

What kind of classes are you in?

Jan. 13, 2008 | 12:42 AM absent responds:

Geometry was a bitch back in 9th grade during the mid year for me as well. I had a low C during the second marking period, but managed to make an 86 at the end of the marking anyways. After that, I got 99s in both subsequent marking periods, propelling by final grade well into the A range. Yeah.

My classes this year are Spanish 4, English 3, Advanced Physics, AP Math AB, and AP US History.

We have a joke teacher for physics, so I couldn't care less. Plus, he kinda already gave us the midterm (I'm not joking). English is also easy shit; I don't need to study to be able to write some essay in an hour and a half for a test.

I'm worried about my math grade just like you are this year, though. I got a few Cs on tests this report period and need a good midterm score to keep my grade at A or above. History is only a concern because of the volume of material and "key terms" that need to be known. And I had the same Spanish teacher in 9th grade, and she's notorious for giving really difficult midterm/final exams.

OH BOY SCHOOL IZ KEWL.

Jan. 13, 2008 | 12:46 PM Jake says:

Oh, so you're one of those smart juniors. ;)

Yeah, I'm an average sophomore, as you can see. I have a few freshmen in my geometry class, but I don't complain.

English is easy as hell for me, though. My English teacher tells me that if I can manage to keep up my grades for the year, he'll move me up to AP next year.

Other than that, I don't plan on doing well at all in math or science. Ugh.

Jan. 15, 2008 | 6:33 PM absent responds:

Getting AP English in 11th sounds pretty sweet - in my school you can't take it until 12th.

So how'd your geometry test go? Remember all your formulas???

Jan. 15, 2008 | 6:34 PM absent responds:

OMG :(

Jan. 15, 2008 | 10:03 PM Jake says:

Geometry was a lot easier than I thought it would be. C++ wasn't bad either.

Tomorrow I have Latin and English. Latin will be somewhat tough, whereas English will be insanely easy for me.

What do you have tomorrow?

Jan. 16, 2008 | 8:40 PM absent responds:

I had Physics and English today.

Just as suspected, the English essay was no big deal, and physics was indeed the same as the review sheet he gave us previously (with a few numbers changed around).

An easy first day. Tomorrow marks the two big tests of mine, though; history and calc. I'm praying for a decent calc grade (as long as there aren't too many optimization problems and the "free response" question isn't insanely tough), and I hope my memorization can come through for history.

Then Friday I have Spanish, which will be kinda annoying but hopefully not the end of the world. Plus, my Spanish grade is high enough to not have to worry TOO much about what I get.

Jan. 16, 2008 | 8:22 PM Jon4life says:

Haha! I don't have mid terms, I have trimesters.

Jan. 16, 2008 | 8:43 PM absent responds:

Are those better? It would seem to me like you just have to take more tests.

Jan. 16, 2008 | 9:11 PM Jake says:

Glad to hear your first day went fairly well.

I have biology and morality tomorrow. Everyone says the morality exam is incredibly easy, and bio is just multiple choice. That'll be a bit harder, but we get to make a cheat sheet, so I don't think I'll do too badly.

Then Friday, I just have to come in for the band exam and that's it. Sounds incredibly easy, consisting of 10 questions followed by the exact same thing we did for chair tryouts. I'll pass that without any problems for sure.

Also, now my school wants to do trimesters next year. >:(

Jan. 16, 2008 | 9:23 PM absent responds:

Heh, my Biology midterm allowed a cheat sheet as well. I pretty much had a piece of computer paper jammed full of words and definitions ;) I ended up not using it at all in the end because by writing the entire book down I pretty much studied everything.

You make it sound like all your midterms are cake; I'm jealous >:(

Jan. 16, 2008 | 11:56 PM Jake says:

Haha, they are, especially considering I haven't studied one bit.

Nope, I've been playing Guitar Hero all night. And yet, I still seem to do just fine.

I love me. ^__^

Jan. 25, 2008 | 2:37 AM absent responds:

I think you should take harder courses >:

Next year I plan on taking full APs for all my classes, but I'll see how that works out as the year draws closer to the end.

Jan. 18, 2008 | 4:05 PM Panzer-Wolf says:

If it makes you feel better...my mid-terms were easy.

Jan. 25, 2008 | 2:38 AM absent responds:

Mine ended up not being so bad. I'm satisfied.

...although I'm getting my History grade today in school, which is pretty darn important.

[edit] Got my history midterm grade; was a 98.

Jan. 25, 2008 | 2:40 AM absent responds:

My Spanish midterm was tough in terms of it being extra long. I don't think a lot of people finished it, but she said she'll take the fact it was long into consideration.

I wish I could take the midterms :(

You shouldn't wish for midterms.

Instead, wish for FINALS!!!

...Lupus?

Anyway, must suck.
As for me, I don't have any exams on Friday nor Monday, meaning (something close to) a 4-day weekend (minus all the studying I'm being pressured to do). Then again, the two harder subjects are back on Tuesday.

Have fun.

Jan. 25, 2008 | 2:47 AM absent responds:

It's never lupus.

But good luck on your upcoming midterms!

Jan. 26, 2008 | 5:10 PM Jake says:

Also, I got a D on geometry. lmao.

Jan. 27, 2008 | 12:11 AM absent responds:

lol shucks :(

I got a decent 86 on my calc midterm, and managed a 90 overall for the quarter by the skin of my teeth.

However, you're further proof my hypothesis works; that if you take a test, but don't worry about the score after taking it, you'll get a low score. Conversely, if you take a test and worry about the score afterwards, your score will end up being substantially higher. I told this to some friends but they still think it doesn't matter and that I'm a bit insane!! Too bad it works for me every time!!!

You shouldn't have thought the test was easy - it only leads to despair!!

Jan. 27, 2008 | 5:14 PM Jake says:

Well, I thought English was easy and ended up getting 100% on it.

What's your hypothesis say about that, hmm?
